Introduction:

1.5GW of offshore wind projects are in operation today and a further 100GW are being planned and developed. Once executed, these projects will have the potential to produce 10% of Europe’s electricity. The key challenges now are to create a policy framework that supports the development of offshore wind and to develop a successful approach for the operation of a transnational grid.

The 2nd annual Offshore Wind and Transmission Congress will examine the key aspects of offshore wind development, drawing on case study experiences from operational farms and will include a special focus on transmission and grid integration.

Hear from key influential speakers including 9 developers, the EC and industry leaders including:

Andy Kinsella, Chief Executive Officer, Offshore, Mainstream Renewable Power
Mark Porter, Regional Director, Nordic, Eon Climate & Renewables (Rodsand 2)
Goran Loman, Project Manager – Kriegers Flak, Vattenfall (Sweden)
Dr Werner Gotz, Managing Director and Chief Operation Officer, EnBW (Germany)
Pieter Tavenier, Managing Director, Evelop (Eneco)
Henrik Morup Lehman, Project Manager, Dong Energy (Horns Rev 2)
Antonella Battaglini, Senior Scientist, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK)
Niels Andersen, Electrical Engineer, SEAS-NVE (Nysted Wind Farm)
Maria McCaffery, Chief Executive Officer, RenewableUK
Dr Jun Qiao, Strategy Manager, Energy Technologies Institute
Jerome Guillet, Energy Director, Dexia Bank, France
Dennis van Alphen, Head of Renewables, NIBC Bank N.V. Infrastructure & Renewables
Melchior Karigl, Loan Officer, “Action for Growth” European Investment Bank
Heiko Ross, Chief Executive Officer, Bard Engineering

Key reasons to attend:

  • Policy and regulatory framework updates from the European Commission
  • Case studies from leading offshore developers on early deployments
  • Finance strategies for offshore and the development of a European transnational offshore grid
  • Updates on how to resolve the technical challenges of erecting a deepwater wind park
  • Analysis of the current supergrid initiatives
  • Turbine manufacturers will showcase the latest in technological developments
  • Interactive roundtable discussions
  • Parallel strategy and technology sessions

Hear what attendees of ‘Offshore Wind Power Congress’ had to say:

“Great job chaps.  It was a well-rounded event; wouldn’t change a thing. Brilliant!” (PM, NRG Bluewater Wind)

“You had a more diverse set of attendees, many of whom we had not seen at similar conferences” (JL, Deepwater Wind)

“Excellent” (JM, Renewable Power Solutions/Great Lakes Offshore Wind Council)

“The speakers were first class” (AW, Principle Power)

“After seeing the list of confirmed speakers, I immediately knew that this conference would attract the top players in the offshore wind community.  And it did!” (SB, University of Delaware)
