Course objectives

Whether you are new to the industry or already established in corporate carbon reduction, this one-day training course will provide you with practical tools and examples with which to implement CRC reporting.

It includes an approach to extending this reporting to your wider corporate carbon footprint, in order to create a wider carbon-management strategy. The course has been specially created by Best Foot Forward, one of the UK's leading corporate carbon management experts, and McKinnon-Clarke, specialists in corporate utility management.

You can use the course as a self-contained session or as an opportunity to put into practice some of the ideas and concepts you have heard in the preceding CRC conference, taking place on the two days before.

  • What the CRC does cover and - importantly - what it does not.

CRC Reporting:

  • Understanding the basics of practical reporting including
    • Initial application process and base year data
    • Boundaries and organisation portfolios
    • Capturing and reporting data on utilities
    • Reporting units and conversion factors
    • Reporting format and timing
    • Key accounting rules
  • Learning from experience: case studies of CRC reporting in real businesses
  • Practical tools to support CRC reporting:
  • from basic spreadsheets to more complex approaches

Direct Energy Reduction projects

  • The process to identify and reduce direct energy usage
  • Examples of direct energy reduction projects

CRC reporting as part of a wider Carbon Management Strategy

  • Your organisation's broader response to climate change - how CRC can contribute
  • Measuring an organisations total carbon footprint (scopes 1,2 & 3)

About your trainers:


Best Foot Forward Paul Cooper

Paul Cooper is the Managing Director of Best Foot Forward. Prior to this he worked in a range of large corporations and has a wealth of financial expertise and technical knowledge in the engineering and environmental sectors.

Paul oversees businesses processes, risk management procedures, and works as project manager supporting and advising the analyst team. Paul is also responsible for the development and bringing to market the most effective business models for BFF's Footprinter� series of carbon footprinting software products.


McKinnon-Clarke

Callum F Stuart
International Project Development Manager

Callum F, Stuart is the International Business Development Manager for the Energy and Environmental Services Division of McKinnon and Clarke. He graduated with an Honours Degree in Energy Engineering from Napier University and since this time has worked extensively within the Energy Sector in a variety of roles.

Callum joined McKinnon and Clarke in 1994 and has taken responsibly for the expansion of Energy Services from the UK to Europe, America and Asia. He is now concentrating all of his efforts into the development of large energy and environmental projects from conception through to implementation.

McKinnon and Clarke act directly on behalf of clients in a wide variety of areas related to Environmental legislation, Carbon Management and Carbon Trading. With the on-set of the UK Governments new Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC), McKinnon and Clarke are actively working on behalf of UK companies assisting and supporting them in this newly developing area of legislation.
