Whilst pulp, paper, biofuels and agricultural companies have the well established infrastructure and facilities to collect and process biomass, the manufacturing of their core products is usually associated with the accumulation of side products which are often incinerated, sold as low value animal feed or simply wasted. By developing biorefinery concepts, the potential exists to explore higher value options for product streams, therefore increasing the productivity, profitability, efficiency and sustainability of manufacturing plants.

New pre-treatment methods alongside biochemical and thermochemical conversion processes, offering increasingly cost efficient and higher yield extraction and production of bio-based compounds, can be built around facilities either as an extension of the facility or cross-the-fence operations.  Through development of internal processing facilities and partnerships between biomass processors and with chemicals companies, the potential to produce multiple value added product streams of both established and new bio-based compounds is starting to be realised.  Markets are developing for bio-based equivalents and bio-based new entities as more and more companies successfully commercialise their new product streams.

Biorefineries and Bio-Based Products is the first meeting of its kind to bring together diverse industrial sectors to increase the efficiency of biomass processing and accelerate the transition into a bio-based economy.

  • Hear representatives from your industry explain how getting involved in biorefineries and the production of bio-based products is benefiting their company and discover the steps you need to make to join them
  • Hear how your peers are using the waste products of their biomass processing and discover value added options for products including lignin, hemicelluloses, glycerol and whole black liquor through pre-treatment and bio- and thermo-chemical conversions
  • Debate the market potential for your side streams and new bio-based products and learn how others have been making a commercial success from the industry
  • Don’t miss the unique opportunity to network with key figures from multiple sectors including food processing, pulp, paper, biofuels and chemicals industries and develop new collaborations and partnerships to obtain raw materials and to optimise the value of your biomass
  • Listen to experienced companies discuss how they have scaled up bio-based product manufacturing into industrial scale and discover the problems they encountered and how you could avoid these with your product lines
  • Examine large scale consortia that are developing and understand where there can be a role for you
  • Held alongside the World Biofuels Markets Conference & Exhibition, meet over 1300+ attendees from 70+ countries, including almost 100 representatives from the press and 100 exhibiting companies
  • Don’t miss your opportunity to attend one of the highest profile congresses in the bio-based sector with past speakers including thought leaders Al Gore, Sir Bob Geldof, Lord Browne, Jose Figueras ex Prime Minister of Costa Rica and Dr Hermann Scheer, Member of German Parliament
