Introduction

The world-renowned GeoPower series of conferences has already welcomed hundreds of delegates to its flagship events, GeoPower Europe and GeoPower Americas. Green Power Conferences is now proud to present GeoPower Asia 2010.  This ground-breaking summit will explore the opportunities and challenges for greater international participation in developing commercial geothermal power projects in the Philippines, Indonesia and other countries on the Pacific Ring of Fire.

The Philippines is the second largest producer of geothermal energy in the world, with installed capacity of 1,978 MW in 2008.  The government has set a target of adding 1,200MW new capacity in the next 10 years, creating huge opportunities for international developers and investors.

GeoPower Asia 2010 will showcase the vast potential of the region, demonstrate the high level of geothermal skills and technology held by regional geothermal energy companies, and bring together international geothermal experts and investors to forge new partnerships for the pursuit of large-scale geothermal power production.  Speakers will debate current policy at a country, regional and global level, and address the key challenges facing geothermal development, including exploration risk, power pricing and project finance.

Key reasons to attend

  • Uncover Asia’s next geothermal exploration hotspots
  • Be the first to hear about new project opportunities
  • Meet and influence the policy-makers
  • Navigate your way through regulatory and incentive regimes
  • Access institutional and private financiers looking to invest in geothermal

Pre-conference training course: GeoPower “101”

Pre-conference

A 1-day primer for non-engineers.

Course objectives
This one-day training course is designed to introduce the basics of geothermal power – the resource and the methods of harnessing it – along with its competitive positioning within the power and energy markets. In addressing the latter, the course will also briefly cover the fundamental concepts governing the supply and demand of power/energy, including the basics of power grids and the factors which determine popular economic measures such as levelised electricity cost (all with particular reference to geothermal as compared with other power sources, both fossil and renewable).
The course can be attended as a stand-alone session or as an excellent way to introduce you to geothermal power before attending the "GeoPower Asia" conference on the following days.

Approximate Timing
Course begins:            09:00               Course ends:   17:00
